  • Just an unbelievably fantastic sushi experience. Up there with the best. 15’ish sashimi and sushi servings. Chef spoke good English to explain what I was served. Highly recommend. Important note: the restaurant is at 4F with entrance at the street to the right of the yellow sushi restaurant. Many people get that wrong (including me :-) )

  • Foreigner friendly. We went on a Saturday for lunch when it was not full. They were surprisingly accommodative of having a young child. Also had English menus to explain what fish you were having. Pricing was not cheap but the quality was good.

  • Truly excellent. Faultless preparation and wonderful shari. We came here for lunch and chose the Nigiri Omakase (~18,000 Yen). The atmosphere was relaxed and very welcoming to non-Japanese speakers. Personal highlights were the mackerel, anago, chutoro, and uni (extremely generous portion). It took us a few minutes to find this sushi-ya as it is on the 4th floor of the building and we walked passed a few times looking for the restaurant, so I hope the attached photos are helpful to others.

  • Exceptional omakase. Chef Takeuchi was warm and welcoming - it was humbling to watch her at work. The course was well-paced and not rushed. The rice and fish were both of very high quality. We loved the amount of high quality shellfish showcased throughout the meal. We went to a few sushi omakase’s on this trip and Sushi Take was hands down the best experience. We made the reservation through JPNEAZY and it worked out flawlessly.

  • We went to this place for dinner and we’re not disappointed. The sushi was fresh and creative. The flavors were rich and delicious. The service was great with the chef showing us a book of each fish. The waitress was very attentive.

  • This was the best dining experience I had in my two weeks of Japan, and I’ve had some great, great meals here including a few highly regarded multi Michelin starred establishments. I loved it so much the first time, it was on my mind the entire day. I then booked it a second time for the day I left. Both were lunches and I opted for the sashimi + nigiri full omakase. Both times, came out to around $180-190 usd. Somehow it hit the perfect note in everything. Old school overall: not surprising from a former Shimizu apprentice. Large, generous nigiri, memorable hikarimono and gai, great attention to detail (both in service and ingredients), and excellent fish prep overall. As a whole, seasoning is on the more assertive side, but not overwhelming. Akazu used in rice and sourness is more pronounced than saltiness. This week (early Dec) the following were especially memorable: - Amongst the otsumami, the marinated oyster with a sort of very subtle sesame oil was especially stellar. The charred sawara was also excellent - fatty and chunky. - Akami second time around was the right amount of iron-y goodness pairing well with the shari. - Kohada.. what can I say, I ordered an extra both sittings. - A juicy, plump Iwashi the second sitting. - Hokkigai was plump, sweet, and very clean - Sweet, very large kuruma ebi served warm. - fluffy anago, one with salt and one with tare Lastly the service was memorable as well. Both the chef and her apprentice are friendly and can speak basic English. Second time I was able to have a short conversation on fish prep and seasonality. Service is casual but attentive. Sometimes in the trendy Michelin starred establishments the service can be a bit too overbearing for me, as if someone is eyeing my every move and ready at a moment’s notice. Here - you are paid attention to, yes. But it’s done subtly and fluidly.. and you are given some breathing room. I shall be back for sure. As is with everything, food can be a deeply personal experience and this was profound in a way that I did not expect.

  • Outstanding little spot with an authentic experience and great quality fish. English was spoken, extremely well, by chef's son and chef is adept, so this is a great option for foreign visitors. It's small, about 8 seats at the counter, but the quality of the food is excellent. Sake options are strong and other spirts, shochu and beer available. I cannot recommend highly enough and hope you can get in. Great value.
